Day program or residential program

If you feel dependent on alcohol, prescription drugs, or other substances, you will benefit from attending our Addictive Behaviour treatment program.

If you need support to detox we recommend a two-week residential stay which gives you support in a structured, safe environment.

Whether you attend as a resident or as part of our Day program, the Addictive Behaviour group will help you to look at the reasons why you have come to rely on substances and teach you ways to manage your needs in the future.

The key elements of this program are:

  • Education about addictive behaviours, and talking with our clinical staff to work out what kinds of things trigger addictive behaviours in your life.
  • Learning and practising skills to change addictive behaviour, develop support systems for yourself and manage any relapses.
  • Learning and practicing other lifeskills that will help you including stress management; problem solving and goal setting; sleep, nutrition and fitness; and rebuilding relationships.
  • Non-confrontational, feelings-based group therapy with a small group. This is a good way for you to feel supported while you are learning to make changes.
  • Agreeing on some goals for your treatment and some personal goals which will help to move your life forward.
  • If you attend this program while you are staying in the clinic, you can usually go home after the first two weeks, and follow up with attendance in the Day program. This is so that you can begin to practise coping at home using your new skills, while you are still being supported by the treatment program.

A variety of staff will assist you including a psychiatrist, therapists and specialist nursing staff.

Partners and family members can also join some group sessions.

After you complete the program, we can continue to help with follow-up plans and support.

How to enroll: Speak to your GP to request a written referral to this program, then call us to enroll on 6247 9960.
